Blackberry Events Champion Future Generations

As part of their increased focus on their Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) impact and producing responsible events, Blackberry are proud to use their position as a successful events agency to provide opportunities and education for young people, including those aspiring to workin the events and hospitality sector.

Each team member at Blackberry is proud to go beyond their day-to-day roles to support others, providing mentorship, work experience and opportunities for young people.

 

MENTORSHIP

Over the years, Director Georgie Butler and Event Manager Becci Picketts have mentored young professionals in the early stages of their career, with mentees from companies such as Gymshark and Birmingham Botanical Gardens.

Following on from success in her mentorship, Becci Picketts was announced as a finalist and received highly commended for Rising Star Mentor at the Fast Forward 15 Mentor Awards in April 2026.

Georgie Bulter, is a strong advocate for supporting local young professionals, she has contributed to round table discussions and educational podcasts with Birmingham Future Faces and has hosted career talks in local schools.  

Event Manager Rae Rodien has now joined the Birmingham Future Faces committee to extend this contribution further, as part of her role she will be involved in the planning and execution of initiatives for the young professionals of Greater Birmingham.

WORK EXPERIENCE

In 2026, Blackberry Events worked as event management partner for the West Midlands Tourism Awards for the third consecutive year.This year in particular, Blackberry opened opportunities for students at the University College Birmingham to work alongside them in the delivery of this prestigious event, helping them gain valuable real-life work experience in arange of areas from media production to event management.

One student spoke about their experience working with the agency, “Thank you for the opportunity to work as a Digital Marketing Intern onthe West Midlands Tourism Awards with Blackberry Events. It was a great experience,and I truly enjoyed being part of it. I learned a lot about marketing andgained valuable insight into the tourism industry.”

Blackberry also recently partnered with responsible events provider Event Decision to benchmark themselves on their ESG efforts. A recent report of this event in particular highlighted their efforts, outperforming the average scores across E, S and G within the sector.

The forward-thinking team hopes to use findings like these to further enhance their positive impact on all areas of responsible event planning and supporting future generations forms integral part of their social value.

 

EDUCATION SECTOR IMPACT

Specialising in educational sector events, Blackberry believe in working with organisations on purpose-led experiences that create positive impact that ripples through the education system, schools and futuregenerations long after.

Over the years the team at Blackberry have planned over 1,500 events for the Department for Education’s national ‘Get Into Teaching’ campaign where 170,000 prospect teachers attended. 89% of attendees said they felt clear on their next steps in becoming a teacher after attending.

The Inspiring Leadership in Education Conference is an event which Blackberry took over from the Department for Education over a decade ago- all because of their passion for events in the educational sector.

This conference sees up to 800 delegates and exhibitors from the education sector attend each year and aims to drive change for future generations, with a focus on developing the leaders of our schools, helping them navigate challenges the education sector faces today. Blackberry plays an integral role in sourcing diverse speakers and creating a line up that helps inspire the leaders of today’s educational sector.

As part of the 2026 Inspiring Leadership In Education Conference, Blackberry appointed a new charity partner – Titan Partnership.Their gala dinner raised funds to support the running of their annual Titan Olympians Event which has helped over 4,000 primary school children in the Birmingham area over the years gain access to sports.

 

VOLUNTEERING

This summer, the team wanted to give hours to those in need and with that in mind they volunteered at Titan Olympians annual event at Aston University, helping over 250 primary school children experience sports.

In 2026, Event Manager Becci Picketts has dedicated more time to helping bridge employability gaps with the events and hospitality sector by speaking with teachers and students at further education institutions in the area. Her most recent visit was at Birmingham City University, where she discussed the vital skills gaps tutors need to be aware of and tips on how people can enter our industry.
