A FREE SOLUTION TO RECYCLING PULL UP BANNERS FROM YOUR EVENT

Blackberry Events are starting as they mean to go on for 2026 with a new partnership that has enabled them to recycle nearly 200kg of pull up banners from past events – for free!

Whilst the Blackberry team advocate for event graphics to be designed in a way that means they can be re-used time and time again and push for them to be supplied only on plastic/PVC free materials that can be better recycled, in the past this has not always been the way of thinking for clients.

As more of us are becoming aware, sustainability in events and supporting a circular economy must begin at the planning stage and careful design plays a huge part in reducing graphic waste.

So when 25 pull up banners turn up to the office all in need of disposal, Blackberry set on a mission to find a solution to recycling pull up banners – a mission they thought would be relatively easy, but they thought wrong.

Due to the nature of pull up banners and the different materials involved it isn’t always an easy fix for companies to recycle them; some solutions can come at high cost too.

Whilst there are increasingly more ways you can recycle event materials now thanks to some greatly innovative organisations, the landscape still comes with its limitations, and one shoe doesn’t fit all, you must find the right solution for your business.

Many print manufacturers are starting to implement recycling schemes which is great news for the planet and to be honest storage and the old waste management bill, however if you don’t know the source supplier due to your client ordering the graphics this can be a challenge.

Just Displays, A print company in Slough has identified this gap and is proud to present an affordable solution for event planners looking to recycle pull up banners.

“Just Displays offer a recycling service for pull-up banners designed to tackle the waste issues associated with traditional systems. Returned units are broken down so aluminium can be recycled and fabric graphics repurposed through the Salvation Army’s Project Re:Claim programme, providing a responsible alternative to disposal. The service is free aside from courier costs, with all recycling proceeds donated to The Tree Council in support of tree planting and environmental protection.”

Thanks to this initiative, Blackberry Events have been able to recycle nearly 200kg of event waste responsibly. The ECOsmart certified event agency are now on a mission to continue to educate and encourage clients around minimising event production carbon and waste on events and will continue to work with other responsible organisations supporting our industry with sustainable solutions!
